Fak’ugesi Digital Africa Exhibition

For the first time in 2017 Fak’ugesi Festival will have a dedicated New Media and Technology Art Exhibition focusing on digital practices in Africa. The exhibition will be an exploration of digital art that either currently exists or has been made for this specific exhibition engaging with processes and practice in Africa. The show will present established and emerging artists who will be positioned alongside our residency artists who will be working on a series of artworks, installations and interventions in the weeks prior to the opening.

Opening on the 8th Sept.

 

Exhibition to include

Fak’ugesi Digital Africa Residency Artists:

Komborerai Chapfika (Zimbabwe), Dananayi Muwanigwa (Zimbabwe), Julia Hango (Namibia)

VR Films from Kenya, Ghana and Senegal as part of the initial New Dimensions exhibition presented by Electric South and the Goethe-Institut: “Let This Be A Warning” by The Nest Collective, “The Other Dakar” by Selly Raby Kane and “Nairobi Berries” by Ng’endo Mukii.

Collaboration with Nonku Phiri, All Hail the Honey’s Rendani Nemakhavhani and Kgomotso Neto Tleane;

Artists include: Tabita Rezaire, Brooklyn J. Pakathi, Rick Treweek and Anthea Pokroy.
